On March 5, 2021, Governor Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 86, which updated the requirements of the January 14 directive issued by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), and subsequently requires every educational agency (i.e., school district, county office of education, and charter school) and private school to submit information about how instruction is being provided on the second and fourth Monday of each month

On July 9, 2021, the passage of Assembly Bill 130 updated the reporting requirements once again to identify data elements for the 2021-22 school year (Education Code 32091).
